SW porch

The porch has a large area, much more spacious than needed to provide a passage into the church, because it was designed to form the base of  the very tall church steeple.

The typical Pugin double door is surrounded externally by ornamented stonework designed to match the planned steeple above.

Caffrey memorial

Captain Caffrey had joined the Army Service Corps and been sent to France in the British Expeditionary Force in 1914, at the start of the First World War. His grave is now in Greenwich Cemetery. His widow returned to Dublin.
