Car parking

The Tesco car-park, on Woolwich New Road opposite the church, provides extended free parking on Sundays: unlimited before 11am and after 5pm, and for two hours between 11am and 5pm. Parking is free from 10pm on Christmas Eve and throughout Christmas Day, and from 8pm on New Year’s Eve. From Monday to Saturday, free parking is limited to 30 minutes, but shoppers who spend at least £5 in the store can obtain vouchers for parking for up to 3 hours. Parish visitors, for business, church services or heritage tours, may obtain Tesco parking vouchers from Pugin Place (if open) or from the presbytery at 103 Woolwich New Road.

The council car-park in Calderwood Street offers free parking on Sundays, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, and after 6.30pm on other days.

There are three free on-street parking spaces, with a time-limit of two hours, on Woolwich New Road near the church gates. As the church is in the town centre, these spaces are rarely vacant during the day-time.

The few parking spaces on the church site are restricted to those with mobility difficulties, those delivering or collecting bulky items, and those on business lasting more than three hours. Please contact the parish secretary by email or phone (details above) to make arrangements for this. The parking spaces are accessed along a narrow route between the church and the Parish Centre, which is heavily used by pedestrians – drivers must take great care when manoeuvring on this site.
