Lecture on the History of our church 17/5/19

Lecture on the History of our church
Friday 17th May @ 7pm

Due to popular demand, the Heritage Committee have arranged for Dr Roger Gibson, one of our parishioners, to deliver a second one-hour lecture on the history and building of the church, St Peter the Apostle. It is planned to hold this lecture on Friday 17 May 19 in St Peters Church at 7.00pm arrival with light refreshments for a 7.30pm start.

Roger will provide us with an insight into how the conflation of the social, political, artistic and spiritual forces set a context in which the Catholic Church re-instated an architectural influence and historic age that set itself against the prevailing social varagies of the industrial revolution. Augustus Pugin the architect of St Peters, for a short glorious period was at the head of the movement and we are still the beneficiary of his talent and influence.

You will need to book your place. Please RSVP asap heritage@stpeterswoolwich.church
