Early morning vandalism
Minor damage will be made good
This morning at 5.30am, a man who had taken leave of his senses due to an over indulgence of alcohol, was found in the front garden of the presbytery breaking the glass of the Marian Shrine and smashing the statue of Our Lady. He went on to do further damage by throwing debris at the West End window of the Church above the front entrance and to one of the windows of Pugin Place. The police were called, so they are dealing with the case.
Mark, Paye’s mason, was fortunately soon on site and made the buildings weatherproof. Our insurers will be coming to assess the damage so that all can be made good again.
